The Organic Seed & Bean Company (known as "Seed & Bean") was founded in 2005 by Steve Rudkin with the idea to create an unique, distinctive range of high quality organic chocolate, sourced fairly in support of smallholder farmers. From growing up on his family farm in rural Derbyshire, Steve has always been attracted to an ecological and sustainable way of life. Prior to starting Seed & Bean, Steve held a number of different jobs in the organic and wholefoods industry, culminating in five years as Business Development Manager at Green & Black’s - prior to its sale to external investors.
Drawing on its founder's lifetime of passion for organics inspired by chocolate trends in Europe, the Organic Seed and Bean Company creatively combines wholefood ingredients such as sunflower, pumpkin and soya beans, plus essential oil ingredients such as lavender, lime, ginger; to create distinct, organic and ethically sourced fairtrade chocolate in over 20 flavours.
Seed & Bean chocolates are handmade in England using French couverture and the cocoa used in every bar is single origin and traceable either to Dominican Republic, Ecuador or Sao Tome. The organic Cornish sea salt chocolate uses the very special Ecuadorian "Cacao Nacional” which has a full and rich flavour resulting in its winning the Academy of Chocolate award.
Seed & Bean has won five Great Taste Awards and two from the Academy of Chocolate. It is the only chocolate company to score 100% in the UK's Ethical Company Organisation’s rankings and is the UK’s highest rated chocolate brand.
Heart of Chocolate is proud to be the exclusive distributor of Seed & Bean chocolate in Australia.
